To a delightful weekend in the country

Normally at the weekend myself and my fiance get caught up doing the mundane tasks that generally don’t get done during the week, things like washing, cleaning of the bathroom and food shopping. This weekend however I was glad we made the effort to do something different. On the first day we went for a walk in the Yorkshire Dales which I’m pleased to have right on our doorstep. It was good to get some fresh air and exercise, even managed a few photographs with my Lomo, its been too long since I last used it!

On the Sunday we did the usual boring stuff I mentioned above but managed to pay a visit to Rowley Manor too see of it could be a potential wedding venue. The function rooms and grounds were lovely but the rooms and bedrooms seemed like they could have done with some updating. It was a real shame, especially seeing as there was a nice little church that would have been perfect.

I also managed to catch some rugby, especially the Scotland game. After what I thought was a poor performances against Wales and England ( it should be said the only reason I thought these were poor games were because of the poor mistakes we kept making and not turning pressure into points ) it was great to see us actually play well, I mean really well. It’s a shame the same old errors crept in during the second half and the fact that France have such an explosive attacking force. All in all I think we can be happy and look forward trying to beat Ireland in the next game ;)

I hope our weekends continue like this. :)

Goals

Setting goals for myself is often futile, it feels like a very inorganic process. The year 2012 is going to be a massive for me anyway, at the end of 2011 i proposed to my girlfriend and we found out that we are having a baby! All very happy and exciting :) But with great power comes great responsibility….

I can feel myself changing already. I’m becoming more organised, I can get around sales people by being persistent and forceful to get the best outcome, I know what’s going on in our bank accounts and I’ve given up some things so that I’ll be around for longer (still working on fizzy drinks though ;))

My point is that I don’t feel there is any point in setting any goals for myself this year as I know I’m on the road to achieving so much already. I’m going to be a daddy, I’ll help manage the finances (and keep bringing home the bacon like an IT badass), I’ll learn how to change nappies, cook good healthy meals for everyone and look after the wonderful little life I’ve helped to create. There can be no bigger goals than these this year. Let’s get to work!
